I was pleased with this, as my first insect in flight...I know it's not perfect, but...

...what do you think?

Used "kit" 75-300mm, at 300mm on canon 400d.

I envy you this one, would have thought you'd long got an iif-photo (honestly), and I like how we do get to see the wing action of that hover fly. I also like hte background colour (how could I not like that???).

I envy you this one, would have thought you'd long got an iif-photo (honestly), and I like how we do get to see the wing action of that hover fly. I also like hte background colour (how could I not like that???).

No, first ones this afternoon...don't really think I have the kit for good ones. I don't know if using a zoom at 300mm is the best way to do it, however, it allowed me to use AF-servo to follow the focus. The long lens obviously contributed to the great bokeh, I think.

Quite pleased with it as my first that is viewable ;)

It made a change from the macro shots I've been up to lately, although I am still loving doing those.
