I had the chance to play around with my Nikon 50mm f1.8 the other day and get some shots of my girlfriend's dog.

I rarely try to shoot anything but static landscapes so some comments would be appreciated.

Cute dog. The last two are too far away to work well. The first is good and the tilt of the head makes the dog even more appealing. The focus looks like it's on the nose instead of the eyes, but you have enough DOF to cover it, at least at this size. I might crop a little on the left and darken the light spot on the dog's back slightly.
