Friend, are you sure? Old joke - a cat and a dog both died and went to stand before the pearly gates. Saint Peter from his throne, asked the dog what he had to say for himself. The dog went on to say how he'd been a faithful and loving servant all his life to his master. Saint Peter opened the gate and let him thru, then turned to the cat and asked the same. Without blinking an eye the cat said "you're sitting in my chair"!

Some cats do love some people, but it takes more time and evidence of human loyalty to the cat before that happens. Dogs are pretty much evolved to love and loyalty.

She is my sister in law's cat and I am her caregiver. I also take care of the cat (Miss Kitty) and she waits for me every morning as I pick her up and pet her. I am the only one who pays any attention to her so she is really my cat.

You don't choose a cat. The cat chooses you. It has to do with the way humans and animals evolved together. Humans and dogs evolved as a cooperative partnership. A symbiotic hunting pack and den security. Family. Cats are more like friendly neighbors. Humans wanted their grain storage free of rats. Good hunting for the cats who were happy to remove the rats. Win/win. But not really cooperation. Family, maybe, if everything goes well.

When cats do love, they can be feroious defenders...

Growing up on a farm, I found two pure white kittens starving, in a field. Brought them back to the house and fed them. They became outside cats, keeping the area free of rodents. They also developed a habit of hiding in the eve of the backdoor porch, when you came out they'd drop down on your shoulder and ride along. Scared the *&^*&^% out of visitors that didn't know it. LOL
