So I ordered a Neuros 30gb HD Ogg/Mp3 player from neurosaudio.com. It features:

- Ogg support (Ogg is a super high-quality file compared to mp3, in a pepsi-challenge it was chosen virtually every single time as the best sounding).

- Digital recording; yeah most players do, but this one will record off the radio anytime you want, and will use a 30 second sample of a song and will compare it to a database the next time you are online. It identifies the artist and song name simply from an audio clip.

- Digital broadcasting; one of my favorite features. If you want to use your player in the car you don't need any cables whatsoever, simply tune to an unused FM frequency and start broadcasting on the player.

I had my best shipping experience to date with this. I ordered it on the weekend, and everytime I check it's order status it was "processing". After two days of this I figured they constructed it per order to order. Late last night, I checked it and it had finally "shipped". So I figured a couple days and it would be here. This morning I used the online tracking service, and found it had been "delivered". I was in disbelief, I went to the door and sure enough there was my gorgeous little package. I went from processing, to shipped, to delivered in mere hours. Me likely. I'm sure they had shipped it and didn't update the status right away, plus it was only about a state and a half away from me, so it was an extremely fast ship. But I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

And now I'm using it to back up my files so I can format! :p

Update: Well I love it, but not because I like all of the features.

The sound quality is stunning, but that's from the ogg support. As an audiophile I demand high quality from my music. And this thing delivers. I also have some pricey sennheiser headphones, so I know that helps the sound quality as well.

The problem I have with it is the FM broadcasting. The quality isn't so great. I was reading online and apparantly I need to shell out $30 or so and buy a powered transmitter. The way it is now was done so that you can't get into any trouble with the FCC. (I think they were overly cautious on that front). So as it is it's not really worth using in the car, the quality is bad enough (static, cut outs etc) that I would rather just listen to the radio.

So that's my update. But over all I'm definately glad I got this one, and don't think I would've been as happy with any other brand. Specifically because of the Ogg support. It's unbeatable I tell ya! ;)

Do I recommend it? Depends on what features you require. If you only use headphones and demand top quality audio, then yes. If you want the broadcasting or what have you, I'd say wait until it's fine-tuned.

Nice yo! I remember reading about these on Slashdot a few months ago! Glad to see you're enjoying it!
