..a notepad!
I've found myself taking so many shots (100+) when doing certain shoots that I forget which ones I've bracketed, which ones I've specifically exposed to certain areas etc to the point that even when I'm sifting through the exif data I can't remember at all which is what. So now wherever I go I'm taking a notepad to write down the filename(s) and whether it's standard, bracketed or specifically exposed.

my bracketed shots are usually obvious (somewhat good exposure, dark, light). It takes it in that order I believe. I need notes to remind my self what I need to do. Keep forgetting to do certain poses when I do family or model shots.

I tend to find if I scribble something down I end up spending ages working out what I just wrote ;)
