I've been working at this Nickel Smelter doing maintenance for the past couple if weeks. This is the nickel separation part of the process.

Figured I'd take a few shots and share.

All taken with my iPhone.

I wonder if you can get any more detail in the welding scene? I've never tried to take a picture of arc welding, and I understand this was on a cell phone, but just wondering.

I'm sure I could with my camera. Here is a couple more that has a bit more detail.

Edit: I chose the overexposed flash one to show how bright the arc can get

How do you like it? I worked in a foundry for a few years, but no more :)

I don't really mind it for the moment as I know it's short term. We're currently here another year until my wife and I will all over the place because of her placements.
The company I work for is a hired contractor who has the maintenance contract for the mines. I'm a plumber/gasfitter and they also employ welders and millwrights and they offer the highest wages in town, which is what helped my decision as I can't see my self doing that kind of work longterm. It does however give me some great experience.

What type of foundry did you work in?
