I'm hope I can do a lot better with the D40x.

you show your face in one yet blur in another. curious.

the 3rd picture looks like your skateboarding, sans the board of course. I use to have the same camera! It took crisp shots for a point and shoot, in good outdoor lighting anyway.

That's helpful.

I think your exposures look good and I agree with what's been said. Just keep experimenting and look for new things and unique angles to photograph.

JCleveland, what's the point of posting if you're not even going to try to be the least bit constructive?

i2onnel, I think you're off to a good start. Like Ajay said, just keep experimenting, and eventually you'll find your niche. I remember how aimless and silly most of my pictures were, with my first point-and-shoot. At the time, I took them because the subject just "looked cool", but now it's embarassing to go back and look at them. "What the hell was I thinking?!" is a recurring utterance when I look through them.

You'll get there. The exposures look good, and that's a good portion of the battle already. Now just try to pay closer attention to composition, framing, posing (of people), etc.

You're gonna have a blast with the D40. It will be a great learning tool for ya, too!

Thanks for the words folks... I'll be here a lot trying to learn new things.

My package comes in today, can't wait!

So I barely got the D40x.

Literally, 10 minutes ago. I charged the battery it for a few minutes, then started to take a few pics... Horrible.

Waiting for the battery to fully charge then I'll really start messing with it.

Well I must say there is improvement on the content and the framing of the shots. But don't forget, its not the camera, its the photographer. A better camera in essence won't make the photograph better.

I really like the second one of the faucet, the way the water looks like its fluid and twisting. Maybe level up the horizon a bit, and center the water and you would have a sweet shot.

Keep up the good work sir.

This last one is great and his hair is really interesting, its just too bad the top of the spikes are cut off. Also the toys on the floor in the back of the frame are distracting. But that was a great pose. It would have been great outdoors and possibly black and white IMO.

So much more to learn, sorry for these crappy photos... I'm trying though. All shots taken via Manual, no flash... Just all shutter speed + aperature. No photos touched up.
