I'm a totaly newbie.....so I can't give a ton of advice right now (cause I'm still learning!) But I absolutely love pic #2!

Have to say I do like the second shot, it looks like a great palce to do some shooting. All the photos look like they were over sharpened, but generally not too bad.

I think that the flash is blowing out lots of detail and that the color could be better managed.
#2 is really bright and loses impact.

Although nicely composed and sharp, the background is tilted and I think her skin and the entire image is too light overall.
Get some sultry into this.

Wow, these are nice. I am not a portait expert my any means but, my C&C, if I may;

#1 - Very nice. I really like the feel of the B&W. would rather not see her right shoulder cropped off.
#2 - I like a lot.
#3 - I dont really like the back off her hair cropped off, but otherwise excellent.
#4 - I think this one is over sharpened. Her eyes look fuzzy, even though in focus. Also, the sharpness makes the neck wrinkles more noticable.

Other than those minor observations I really like them all a lot. Great job.

C&C per req:

1. This is a nice shot, and good expression. The light seems a little flat however, and I'm not fond of the cropped shoulder and disembodied hand. I think this would have been much stronger had you opened it up a little and moved her farther from the background.

2. Great shot! I would like to see a little of the RH side cropped and some minor perspective correction to straighten the leaning Coke cooler and so on.

3. Cute shot, but really needs to be opened up just enough to get all of her hair in. I'm not sure what's on the front of her shirt, just over her left breast, but it appears to be a purple stain. I would suggest clonging both that and the tattoo out of this shot. I understand that the tattoo is "part" of her, however in this composition it seems more distracting than anything. Also, watch yoru backgrounds. The large white area is really competeing for the eye's attention here.

4. Very nice; I like the pose, composition and background here. Again, the tattoo seems awkward to me, and her eyes look like there was a rather clumsy red-eye reduction done (but that may just be this crappy monitor). I think in this shot, I would have been inclinded ot have her hair over the tattoo. Also, watch your treatment of hair in shots like this; on her right (image left) side, it's rather messy and 'all over'. Two seconds with a comb would have fixed this.

Overall, some very nice work!

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

2 is the best, the others look crunchy (probably from sharpening to much) and the light is flat. bounce the flash or get it off the camera.
Get those couple things worked out and post more shots, these show some potential.

Mmm The coca cola sign in #2 distracts me and her legs looks weird...

I like the girl's expression in #3, but it doesn't look sharp at all

Thanks for the critique everyone . you have helped !......Can't believe I missed the crooked bg (Coke box ) .:banghead:

#1 needs a hair light, also was it your idea or the model's to not look at the camera? Would have been more interesting if she simply looked your way.
#2 has a distracting background. I can't tell if the focus is sharp, but you can check it on an enlargement.
#3 pretty good, but you need to watch the background better.
#4 good, but the background is in the way. Also, if these are HS girls having their senior picture, then you might have suggested some other attire to hide the tattoo.

Thank you For your input, all decisions in these photos are mine .Guilty as charged . I try to get 7 poses into a shoot. 1) Head shot 2) prone 3)lean sideways 4)looking away 5)Candid 6)Laughing 7)sitting down . I don't know if I'm off base or not ,but that is what i am trying now ...I haven't grown to the point ,that I only take a hand full of photos yet,so these are only two of around 40 optimized of each girl . I don't want to tell how many I take at a shoot ,but after three close changes the girls are very tired .
P.S. I have a 20 yr old daughter ,so i have an endless supply of her friends to photograph / practice .

Thank You Sir , I study the replies from everyone and apply them as I can or see fit. I do appreciate all your help !
