I decided to experiment with the starry mask for my moon unit (octabox for the ringflash) last night. I wanted to get a tight headshot with clearly defined stars in the irises for catchlights, but it looks like I'd need to use a really short lens to make that happen. 
I was pretty disappointed overall but my wife loved this shot so I figured I'd give it the once over and post it. Normally she hates everything I do with our girls in the studio, so this is a first. 
Hopefully when we try this again tonight I'll be able to get the catchlights I want, and get a decent expression.
