I returned the Canon 100-400mm lens I rented today..but first I stopped by the National Zoo to try it out on the cats. I was pleased with the results. I currently own the Sigma 150-500mm which I have had good results with but I have been thinking of buying the 100-400mm OR a 300mm f4. I will rent the prime next and test it out. If anybody has any advice...let me hear it!

My favorite parts of any zoo are the big cats & the primates, specifically the lowland gorillas.

I'd like #3 a lot better if the cat's back wasn't cut off, and #6 if there weren't random limbs with shoes in the background... but overall, they're great!

#5 included the whole body so I figured with #3 I would crop in tight which sort of required cutting it off at the shoulders, but I understand what you are saying. With the cheetah I kept noticing in my pics that you can't tell how small they are from the rest of my pictures...in that one you can. Also right now they are only allowed out twice a day for an hour each time and the keepers stay in there with them and keep an eye on them. They don't have contact with their mother so the keepers are like parental figures...and that sort of spoke to me...having the cheetah cub sit at the keepers feet.

Thanks for the feedback and I am glad you enjoyed them! :)
