GBH+Kitty Cat+Squirrel

I went out later today than I normally do, because I had a wonderful migraine yesterday, and didn't feel up to getting up early. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. As it was, I broke my rule that when I move from place to place, I will take the Sigma 50-500mm off the camera, and carry with Tamron 18-400mm, because it's a whole lot lighter. Got a surprise today that made me wish I hadn't broken that rule.

4 Bobcat This kitty surprised me by popping out of the tall brush. This is where I would have liked to have the Tamron, because kitty sat and looked at me, as I tried to extend the lens, and knocked the tulip hood off in the process, scaring it off. Otherwise, the first shot would have been a face shot in full sun. Sigma f/6.3 1/1000 ISO 250 500mm

Nice set, Jeff. Too bad a little sunlight couldn’t have fallen on the cat’s face in #5 but good shot anyway. I like #1 and #8, too.

Nice set, Jeff. My favorites are #3, 7, and 8. I really like the dof in 7. There are bob cats around here but I've never seen one. I'm still hoping one pops up in front of me someday, too ... but not too close, heh!

Thanks! Yes, it is amazing. I would have got the first shot with it looking at me, if I hadn't been fiddling with the lens and dropped the lens hood. I got several shots looking through the fence, because it decided to look at me. Then it went down into the arroyo, and I got a few more.

Thanks! Yes, the Tamron tends to be sharper than the Sigma, which is why I was griping at myself for not having switched it out. The Sigma goes to 500mm, but it gets soft at 400, and I really have the Sigma for the long range shots that I can't get with the Tamron.
