Need a flash for my Nikon, around 120 - 130 dollars.

LOL He doesn't 'believe' in 50mm 1.8s... he shoots all his weddings with a 18-200mm VR lens 2.8.

(Nice lens)

I asked about a rent to own situation, but its really his dads (they do weddings) so I dont know

Well I need SOMETHING for an event on May 19th... but I have a model coming for some shots next week... I dont really NEED it for that.

Well, I suggest you first look for someone who will loan you a fast lens in that range or find one to rent and then see what you could do about the Sb-800. It's a steal at that price if it's in good shape.

Second, if the Sb800 isn't in the cards, I'd go with and Sb28 or one of the other 'super flashes' a 24, 25, 26.
I know for a fact that the Sb28 will work pretty well on my D200 in auto mode and I use often with a pc cable on a stand w/umbrella along with my Sb600. So, if you buy one you just might keep it!

If you go off brand be careful not to fry your D50 because the voltages don't alwas match up with the digitals and they are finicky so I've heard. If you go off brand, I would go with the vivatar or check the pawn shops for a sunpak 522, 544, or 555 flash. ( if you get insanely lucky and find a Metz handle flash, grab it) If you are going off brand and not getting a handle mount, think really hard about the vivitar, you don't get a rep like that for nothing.

I'm sure you are aware that you can get a hot shoe to pc adapter for around $15 and if you check strobist.com you can put together a pc cable as long as you want for around another $20 or so.

Beat of luck

Mike... I really have to order it online. I am planning on using a 50mm 1.8, so I guess I dont need the best, but I dont want to buy crap either, you know? I just need something DECENT.

RM, I really have no experience with Sunpak. When they are saying auto TTL I take them to mean that the flashes are using their own auto exposure like every other Non-OEM flash would do (or older NIkon flashes). From what I hear, Nikon is tight lipped about their flash technology and does not want anyone else making a flash that will work as well as their own.

One thing, be sure you get the tilt And rotate on the flash.

I hear you on the online thing, I stay there myself! ;)

Best of luck, I'm off to the lake!

Take out a loan, buy an SB-600.

I'm sure if you watched some auctions on ebay you could get a good deal.

Here is a link for you to try. I just saw this on the Nikonians For Sale forum. If you can't link directly, sign up as a free member and then go to that forum and look. I've never been burned on this site.
