I know this is an old thread but would like to comment anyways.

Theft is common, especially when you're bringing expensive equipment. I own a 10-year-old point-and-shoot - cheap yes, memories - priceless.

I did feel a little more secure by "stickerbombing" my stuff with my name. Name tags that are hard to peel and easy to identify the equipment with may be a good deterrent. I'm from SEA by the way and currently ordering my stickers from http://amztk.com/photostuffbr
