Need editing help please

Hey guys. I hope you all can help me. I know someone out there can. I have Photoshop CS2 and I am trying to fingure out how to fix this picture. My flash was set wrong and I would love to fix this picture. Please any advice is awesome.

 

Levels and Shadow highlight with a little masking - ideally I would take it through Lightroom 2, but is not on my Laptop

I used the marque tool and feather to lighten select areas and the did a final blend using dodge and burn.

 

My boyfriend and I took a shot at it.. let me know what you think
