Need help editing a photo please!

Hi all,
I am in big need of help. I'm trying to editing a photo I want to use for our wedding thank you cards, but my attempts thus far have been a disaster.

It shouldn't be a difficult edit - it's just fixing the hair on the groom - but when I've tried to get rid of the strands of hair on his forehead and replace them with skin color, it's ending up all blotchy.

Can anyone see if they can get a better result? I can email the image to you (I'd post it here but don't see immediately how to do that...).
