Need help on choosing Canon EOS 40D Kit

I would like to buy Canon EOS 40D Kit, but a bit confuse about which one should I choose.

Option A:
- Canon EOS 40D Kit with EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM

Option B:
- Canon EOS 40D Kit with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
- Canon Lens EF-S 55-250mm F4.5-6 IS USM

Total price for each option are almost the same

None of the above.

Buy body only and a decent first lens. the 17-85 is the best of the above but is still pretty slow.

Look at the Sigma 17-70 f2.8/4, Tamron 17-50 f2.8, Tamron 28-75 f2.8

These lenses are faster and are very good quality particularly as a first lens.
