Need help with new camera purchase

Hello all, I have been doing some research and even trying some cameras out before I purchase my first SLR. I thought I had finally decided on one until I saw two more, and once again, I am where I started a few months back.

I am undecided between the Pentax-KX, Nikon D3100 and Canon T1i. B&H has the Pentax for 599.95 with a 18-50mm and 55-200mm lens, the nikon for the same price but only with the 18-50 lens and the canon for 649 with the 18-50 mm.

I have decided that those three are well for my budget and would not like to spend more than that. I will be using the camera mainly for family trips, pics of vehicles and for personal side business (auto detailing).

At first I thought the pentax was great as I would have two lenses, but after looking at the other two they have other options the kx doesnt have.

What do you all suggest? I really want to buy one soon but I want to be happy with my purchase .

Out of those 3, D3100.


But also walk into a store and check out the Sony A33.

Any of the cameras listed so far in your thread will do what you want to do. None of them would be a purchase mistake.

Of them all I would also recommend the Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens.
