need suggestions on 75-300 range lens for sony

Hi, i would like to get one of these kind but i dont no which one to pick: sigma or Sony or better suggestion? I found them awfully cheap like around 200$ is it a good thing or a bad thing? Im going to order some filters real soon so might as well order one or two more for my future telephoto lens. thks!

With the 75 to 300mm the question comes to why are you buying it. If your intention is to be shooting at close to the 300 end, then the limitation is f. 5.6 or even f. 6.3 on some lenses. That means the sweet spot for sharpness is most likely at f.8 or higher.

That means to shoot a good handheld shot you would need a bright sunny day to shoot at 1/500 sec at even f.6.3. Cloudy days or poor weather and you would automatically require a tripod.

For some the answer is the Sigma 70mm to 200mm 2.8 which is much more expensive but has a much wider range of use under lower light conditions and even inside without flash.
