I just got a new Pentax K-5 body today. I didn't seriously consider anything else due to heavy investment in lenses, and I've been waiting for a couple of issues with these bodies to get resolved. Gotta say, I'm loving it! Sooo much smaller/lighter than my K20D and K10D- makes the old cameras look like a relics. :D

:lmao: To me "smaller and lighter" are not good attributes for a camera to have, because "smaller and lighter" to me mean "to small to hold effectively, and it will break when dropped".

While I certainly agree that "smaller" can mean "hard to hold effectively" (not the case here for me fortunately), "lighter" often means less damage when dropped- all things being equal- due to physics. Although light, the thing is built like a tank.

OK here ya go (K-5 on left, K20 right). The difference is a lot more dramatic than it appears here...

And here's a quick random shot with it this morning. I like the color rendition a lot (and the 70mm Ltd lens of course).

Lighter can also mean more plastic, less strength, requiring less of an impact to cause damage - due to physics, because in the real world, all things are not equal..

All things being equal would imply similar materials (at least as I would use that phrase), and in this case, it is magnesium alloy, not polymer. Also, polymer isn't necessarily bad- witness the preponderance of polymer framed firearms, which will take military level abuse better than steel. Early plastic cameras were no so hot. I was a technician for Minolta way back when their XG body came out. I think it was the first plastic framed "all-electronic" SLR. Those things came back for repair like migrating starlings.
