Some of my wildlife shots from this summer & fall. Other than the raccoon I only had a quick moment to capture the image

Those are spectacular pics!

May I ask what lens you're using?

They're all at 400mm, so probably a 100-400L zoom, or maybe a 400mm prime.

The waxwing is a great shot. The deer would be really cool but it looks a little hazy and maybe even a touch soft. A little photoshop work on that might go a long way. I'm not sure about the wide crop.

Thanks for the kind words . I still have a lot to learn. That's what makes it fun.

I am typically on the move hiking when taking pics. I use a Canon 100-400mm f/4.5 - 5.6L IS USM.

I stood at the swamps edge for hours to catch this opportunity...

Cool pics! I love the heron and it is so hard to get good clear shots of wildlife, especially on the move. Some PP as Reznap suggested would make them stand out a bit more!

Nice! Looks like you need to join us in the "Nature" forum! Scroll on down a bit...very few visit that section. ;)

JWellman,

I am new to TPF. Have not spent a lot of time navigating around. Nature is where I want to be

Thanks
Jim

I had to find my way down under too! While the "newbie" forum is where I REALLY need to be, they don't do much nature talkin' here.

I think the deer are my favorite... Says ok to edit in your profile... So I thought I'd throw a different idea your way...

What about a re-crop (1:1 aspct ratio), a booost to the contrast and a bit of sharpening... Just a thought...

We are not focused on any one "type" here in the beginners forum. You post and we can discuss whatever you like... :)

I understand completely and my goal was not to detour Jim from posting in the newbie section but to point him where his main interest lie...nature.
