New Guy From St. Louis

Hi, new to the forum, currently live in St. Louis, notice another new member stated Birmingham was number 10 for crime, well STL is number 1, yep were number 1 in Baseball, crime and in my opinion worst drivers...

Im a Mechanical Engineer for a HVAC company and I'm here to learn what I can to improve my skills as a hobbyist photographer.

Loved taking pictures as a kid but hated using film (cost of developing film) then once digital cameras because more popular and inexpensive got one but then the whole point and shoot was boring and never caught the action I was looking for. So broke down and bought a Canon D300 that I still have today that got retired in '09 replacing it with a 7D... Yeah almost 6 years with the same body, the whole thing was so worn out that it would take a few pictures then have to take a break for 5 minutes to finish processing the last 4 pictures it just took. It has to have a shutter count of over 200k, I took pictures of everything.

Anyway, main concern is to learn more about proper exposure, ISO and shutter speed. I recently did a complete change in the way I shoot subjects, started shooting in RAW, switched to AV mode and started using lightroom. I love to take pictures of anything and everything I find interesting.
