Hey guys. If you remember, I had a Minolta Rokkor 58mm f1.4 that I was attaching to my 40-150 zoom lens. Well, got my hands on my grandfather's Minolta Rokkor 50mm f1.7, and thought I should try rubber banding THAT to the end of my zoom lens to see what it does. It has a smaller rear element, so the results give a bit of a porthole feel to it. Lemme know what you think.

Neat! I think this setup could be fun. Much like your last setup, it feels like you're peering into another world, rather than traditional macros where it's clearly just a blown up version of the subject.

On a side note, I just noticed you're in Appleton. I'm down in Madison, myself. I don't see too many fellow Sconnies on here!

That serious vignette definitely helps. That's what I love about this setup-sure it's incredibly sketchy looking and not exactly practical (maximum focus distance is like 2-3" away from lens), but it's definitely unique and something I plan to explore to its full potential using as many lenses as I can scrounge up. Next one: The legendary Kodak Ektar 80mm f2.8, I'm thinking.

You're right-I've noticed maybe two others from WI on here. If that. Someday when engine blocks don't shatter from being so cold, there should be a WI TPF meetup. There's a club around here that has these oddball "meets" where they start with one subject, everyone has 30 seconds to take their picture, then move on to the next subject, everyone takes their picture, then move on.... ad infinitum. WAY too structured. I have no desire to participate in that-I like doing my own thing on my own terms, really, but there's really not much in terms of photography groups around here.

Looks like this lash-up might be a fun one to use, what with the built in heavy vignetting effect. The secret is to use it when that kind of effect helps, or to simply crop off the corners.

That's a splendid idea! There are a bunch of places I want to go shoot around the state. Maybe we can organize something after the great thaw... There used to be, and maybe still is, a tpf meet up section on the site. Though I don't think many people check it..

I never mentioned that these are actually colored toothpicks. Whoops.

There is down there somewhere, but I don't know if that would work or not. Maybe we'll all PM each other or something.
