Moving up from a Canon SD780. Always wanted an SLR type camera but something always came up until now.

New camera is a Sony SLT-A33

Some quick test shots I took out of the box before charging the battery.

Sweet new rig!!!!!! Welcome to TPF....I had my favorite camera salesman demo the Sony A33 for me a few months back,and I must say, it felt to me like a great camera. I liked the handling, as well as the styling and feel and finish of the lenses. Sony did a pretty good job in designing that camera.

Sony actually makes a lot better product then most would expect. Of course the last time I went to an actual camera shop the salesman called my camera a "TV". I didnt have the heart to tell him his burn would have been better if he called it a walkman.

@OP - Get you a Tamron 17-50f2.8 to go with that 33. Nice cheap lens. A minolta 50mm f1.7 is a first pick too. Mine has been good to me for $100. Minolta also makes an old 100mm f2 that is pretty badass but hard to find now a days.
