Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I'm not sure if it is spam or not but it seems fishy to me that someone would start a new account and their first post is to provide a link to something they are selling at ebay (I didn't know if this is something I should report or not but it made me think about what to do in this instance):

Having been posted in the Buy/Sell forum, and it's photography gear, it's OK.

There is no problem with having the staff check it out.

Had it been posted in another forum, it would have just been moved to Buy/Sell.

Other forum's that I visit do not allow Sales posts until you have posted x times or have been on the forum for x days.

Do I sense another thread suggesting ways and means to limit who can sell here?

while i understand the basis for agentdrex's concerns,I don't believe limiting my access to a legitimate seller is the job of admins.Nor would I hold them accountable.
Good call,Keith.......just my $.02

are you suggesting there might be other threads regarding this?...lol

Are you suggesting someone needs to go look?

Am I suggesting just to simply suggest?

May I suggest everyone continue to report questionable posts?

Seriously, never feel like you're wasting anyone's time by having us check out a thread - that's why we're here. :) Always go with your gut!

Also note we don't use a limiter on new members posting in the buy and sell section because limits such as time spent on the site or post counts don't actually provide any protection or authentication of a member. Having a certain time registered on the site or a certain post count won't prevent any illegitimate traders - time limits just require people to wait for them to expire; whilst post counts are easily boosted (a few "good shot" posts easily covers them).

Since we don't have the ability to validate traders the buy and sell is always a user beware section. Any clear scammers we will remove as the same with if they appear anywhere else on the site.

I have purposely not sold to a member with a low post count on here because I didn't get the warm and fuzzies. If you're a buyer or seller and doing business with an unknown member and you get rolled then....it's kinda like the TPF lens around the world project which, turns out its a study on trusting forum members with little presence and low post counts vice a lens traveling the world taking images.

Good points everyone. I will keep all that in mind. I apologize for causing any undue stress from this thread. Thank you for the replies though, much appreciated. I'll know what to do in the future as a result.

Actually I recall at least one of the longer term higher post count members ran off with one of the 50mm lenses (or at the very least took a very very very long time to get back in contact with the lens).

Round 1 or round 2?

The problem w/ an "x posts to post in buy/sell" rule is that you'll still get the buy sell post... but you'll also get 10 shots of useless dreck splattered randomly throughout the forum where the poster has nothing useful to say, but has been compelled to talk regardless.
