New Pentax 17-70

I'm considering replacing the kit 18-55 lens that came with my K10D with this new and improved Pentax kit lens, the DA 17-70. I was looking at the faster Sigma 17-70, but that lens is really heavy- twice the weight- and I like to stay as light as possible (just personal preference). Also, the DA 17-70 has the super-smooth supersonic motor and does not extend- staying compact (another of my preferences in a lens). Anyone have one of these lenses yet?

I don't understand why there aren't many Pentax users. I've heard they make some pretty good glass, particularly zooms at the long end.

Here's another interesting new Pentax zoom, the 55-300. It's amazingly short and light, compared to similar offerings.
