New to 3rd Party Lenses: Need Advice

Okie dokie, boys and girls. I need the collective wisdom of the masses. I need to get a 24-70mm and a 70-200mm in f/2.8. I am, for the first time, considering 3rd party lenses simply due to cost and the environment I'll be using them in. So... with that said please tell what brand you guys recommend for these two lenses.

Right now I'm torn between Sigma and Tamron, but it seems that Tamron focuses better from the reviews I've read so far. The Tamron also seems to be sharper and not as "soft" as the Sigma variants based on these same reviews. But, again, please tell me your thoughts.
