New to Shelter Pet Photography (C & C appreciated)

I got my first DSLR this past December and starting volunteering at two of my local animal rescue/ shelters in Feb. and March. I was up front and told the director
that I was new to all of this and asked if I could practice, if my photos didn't turn out well, they could keep what they had up, no harm done.
Five months later, I continue to learn thru trial and error, and they have been very happy with the photos. It's been a win win for all of us and I have found a new passion.

I would love any C & C, from objective eyes, to help me improve. I currently use PS Elements 12, for final touches.
I hope to eventually get more equipment (maybe a popup background and some form of lighting that I can carry back and forth).
