Newcomer, Camera help

Hi, I am very new to camera buying and I was hoping I could get an opinion on what would be a better camera. I am definately not professional, my biggest want is just clear pictures and I take alot of indoor pictures of my kids so something that is good indoors. Any tips would be appreciated, I am deciding between these two models.

You will love the Canon if you were to get that one I have one like it and its great for a point and shoot.

I have an older Nikon like that and its taken some really good shots. I think mine has the 1:2.9 - 5.0 lens though. I really like it.
This is a Nikon Shot. It has decent battery life and it takes pictures fast for a budget camera. It survived my entire europe trip and took lots of great shots.
