Geez. Look through some more stuff, I'm betting you have many more hidden treasures.

Most have suffered badly from moisture and deterioration but still serve as aides-mémoire.

Nicky was in the San Francisco Ballet school program while she was in middle school and had the ability to go on into their high school but not the desire.
She is currently very successful as an executive at a huge firm, happily married to a senior civil servant who still competes as an elite level cyclist and a single child who is on the same path.
I sent her the first picture and her reply was that she really loved that monkey.

it tells a simple story. It's peaceful, easy to look at, and not hard to understand.

This is a fine compliment, thanks.
And I think you make a point that could stand a little more discussion. The most enjoyable pictures, I think, are those that allow the viewer to understand the elements of a story, get the mood the photographer intends, but still leave something to the viewer's imagination.
That allows the viewer to engage the story being told and make it their own.
Enough dose of the three Ms, (meaning, mood, mystery), in digestible amounts.
