Night HDR question

I found a great area to shoot a skylineBut I have a questionWhen you are shooting a skyline can you shoot through a Window or do you have to be physically outside?

You can shoot through a window, but you risk reflections an other problems. A polarizer can help with the reflections, but you will still be stuck with the crud (dirt, dust, streaks, bird sh**) that is on the window, not to mention deformities in the window glass.

If there are light sources behind you, that will show up in the window. I'd try to get out, though, that will always be the better option.
