I personally despise the tilted shot look... couldn't get past that....

Hahahaha I don't know why I love the tilted angles. I did shoot a couple straight but I always find straight shots to be a bit dull. At least mine.

Here's one I shot straight. It's probably the way I frame the shot but to me it's just boring. It looks like every other photo out there most likely due to my lack of technical ability..

I think you like the angled shots because they add a bit of dynamism to otherwise sort of bland photographs.

These are clearly just "some pictures of my friends while we were out taking pictures" and your friends aren't doing much of anything interesting. I am not drawn to them, particularly, I am not curious about what they are doing (the camera straps actually make it clear what they're doing). Pictures of people are great more or less because I, as the viewer, can imagine a story, I imagine who they are and what their life it, and what they are doing, and why. All that I imagine is probably wrong, but that's ok -- the image unfolds itself like origami in reverse, into a story in my head.

These pictures don't do that. If they girls were doing something, or looking at something, it might help -- I would think "what is she looking at? What is she doing?". Even if they didn't have the cameras it would help a little.

The lighting doesn't help. The on-camera flash flattens everything out visually and makes the girls just that much less interesting to look at.

I do like the backgrounds, the brilliant colors out of focus are quite nice -- you've got some great locations here, and I think you've done a good/great job of placing the large areas of color relative to the subjects in the foreground. If you could direct your subjects a little and get some human interest from them, you'd potentially have something here. Please no stupid finger gestures or V-signs, that's just annoying

Just expressions, actions, looks. You could just try yelling and pointing, or yelling at them. Think up a horrible word that you would never use, and yell it very loudly at them. YOU ***ING ****!!!!!! .... <click click click> It only works once, though

Yes, youre absolutely right amolitor, we were on vacation and just strolling around that evening.

Actually these were shot with an off camera speedlite, problem is, I didn't bring my pocket wizard and the on camera flash trigger wasn't working properly somehow so I had to place the flash on a certain object..in this case it wouldn't trigger unless it was at a certain height and the only thing I found was a garbage can that my flash was sitting on top of LOL. Anyways, great tips, thanks.
