Night shoot outside, no lighting

Hiya guys,

A friend of mine is a DJ and is wanting some urban night pics, and has asked me to have a practice.

However, I dont have any lighting and there isnt much at our chosen location.
I only have the standard flash that is on the Nikon D3000.

Am i Waisting my time do you think ?

Do you have a tripod? That will be essential.

I have found it is better to not wait until it is completely dark, but to start shooting at dusk

and the flash is not going to help you, leave the flash off

Yes i have a tripod, and thanks for the info first thing I would of done is put flash on haha, im maybe thinking of using car headlights as an effect for a couple of pics ??

And shouting at dusk is not an option in the near future due to work commitments from both of us etc.
