Night time shoot with Olivia

3 Alien Bee 800s, one boomed above with beauty dish, on camera left with blue gel used as a rim light in a few and on train in a few. 3rd alien bee with shot at train. Shot with a Canon 50D with a Canon 50mm lens. Transmitted by Youngnuo, all powered by Vegabond II. ISO 100 f/6.3-8 1/125s.

That's a lot of batteries. IMO, you could have produced the same result with 3 little strobes with the same modifier. I think using 3 ABs would work much better if you were shooting during the day trying to overpower the sun. The one of her hanging on the side of the train is best.

They were all 3 ran off of one vegabond II. If you feel like taking 3 ABs out in oklahoma 100+ weather to over power the sun be my guest.... I agree with the one hanging off the train, that one was my favorite image, one of two of her favorites. I am sure someone could get the same result with a few little strobes, but the recycle time wouldn't compare.

I've even used the modeling lights on the tiny vegabond power with 2 Elinchroms and a profoto =)

But i haven't sold my strobes yet but given the choice I don't use them either heh
