Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

I was just looking at this lens as my next lens to buy. I've been reading reviews and they all say it's a great lens and i was wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

Also, if I get this lens, should I bother getting the Tamron 17-50 f2.8?

I have it and I love it. It is wide enough and long enough for any general application. My next step up from this is going to be a 24-70. I would deffinitely reccomed this.
