I presently own the 18-200 mm and even though its not the best IQ lens, I find that its picture taking quality is worth the zoom range, making it a great for that single lens carry around. If the 18-300mm is better then I might trade up. All I can find are a few subjective reviews but no real data or comparisons against other existing lenses.

Now if they would only make something in the full frame world with a similar range. Say 28-350 would be nice. I would give some quality for the convenience. Probably would need a burro to carry it around.

I don't like changing lenses while out in the wild. I try to all that in my vehicle.

Here is an article Ken Rockwell wrote on this lens and how it compared to 18-200 and 28-300. I don't think Ken is a god nor do I think he is an idiot. He knows what he is talking about most of the time and knows what he likes and what he does not. I don't agree with everything he has to say but who does?

They do have the 28-300 which is an FX lens! And it is a very good lens for the money! Is it a PRO lens.. NO! But it does give good, sharp images and the range is useful!

I finally broke down and bought the 28-300mm Nikon lens. Just got it yesterday from Adorama. Initial impressions on my D800E is that it appears very sharp. I may have been a little hasty on getting the 24-70mm, f2.8, but will keep it for more critical shooting.
So now I should liberate my 70-300mm Nikon, which I was very happy with but wanted that wide angle end of the zoom.

I bought one as soon as it came out!!! I love it!!!
I sold off my 18-200 VR and 70-300 VR to raise the money. I'm happy that I did.
I do feel that it's more sharp. And one thing for sure, it's built way better than the former 18-200.
Mine doesn't creep at all!!!
