Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 Lens

"Vibration Reduction works only with N65, 75, N80, F100, F5, D70, D100 & D1 series (or newer) cameras."

That is stated on B&H for the 70-200mm lens, does that mean VR won't work with my D60? What makes VR model specific?

My wife has a D60 and my 70-200 2.8 works fine with it, VR too.

Also before you buy the 24-70 2.8 and the 105 Macro look into the 35-70mm 2.8 with the Macro option. http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/3570.htm

I just picked that one up and it's is a way cheaper alternative to the 24-70mm.

Older cameras don't have the computerized thingies inside them to deal with the electronics of the vibration doohickies in the lens.

It doesn't say D series....... It says D70 and newer........ So I decided I would ask....... That way I know if I need to get the D300 first.......

That's what I figured, but since it specifically said D70 I just wanted to double check. Better safe than sorry when spending $1800 on a lens.

The D60 or the D70?

The D70s came out in 2005. The D60 came out in 2008.

So the D60 is Newer than the D70.

numerical models aren't always chronological models.

Exactly. They really meant newer, and not higher end. The D70 D100 and D1 were all the first proper commercial cameras in their lines, though I'd say the D40 is missing from the list. Everything since then works perfectly. In otherwords pretty much every Nikon Digital SLR since 1999 *or ever Nikon DSLR bar the prototype / testing the digital waters cameras, supports VR.
