Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR with D5100

I am looking for a good lens for bird photography. I was looking at Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR amazon deals and apparently when I check its compatibility on the page (Amazon.com: Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED IF AF-S VR Nikkor Zoom Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras: NIKON: Electronics), it says it can not work with D5100 which is a surprise for me. I though FX lenses can work perfectly with DX.

Anyone has any confirmed idea if this will work with Nikon D5100?

it works just fine; great actually. I suggest buying it used from a reputable vendor for around $300.

Worked great last weekend, and the weekend before that, and the weekend before that.. lol. I use this lens on my D5100 all the time, in fact it's on the camera about 95% of the time.
