Nikon CLS Limitations

i've got a D90 and 2 SB600's. I'm looking at doing a car shoot that will require some lighting over a fair distance.
I'm wondering what the exact limitations of the CLS are distance wise and line of sight wise.

I have gotten away with some lighting before with the flash hidden so it hasn't be direct line of site, and i've never experimented with the distance of triggering.

If anyone has anything they can pass along that would be great.

i don't think anyone can tell you the exact distance cls is effective at. just take it out side and set the flashes up at the distance you will be doing the shoot at. i would make sure that the little infra red receiver on the right side of the sb600's will be visible to the d90's pop up flash though
