Hello :) I have a Nikon D40 and it used to take pictures at night or in the dark no problems, lately the pics have been blurry because the shutter is staying open to long. This happens even if just low light. If the camera is in the auto mode it also clicks a lot. Takes beautiful pics outside in the daylight hours. We did mess around a little while ago with the aperture to take some fun pics. Not sure if we have messed up the settings or what has happened. We bought the camera refurb from BHPhoto in NY so don't have an owners manual. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah an upgrade might not be such a bad idea. My guess is that your ISO is too low since it only have the capability of 800 and Hi1 which acts for 1600. Then perhaps you would need to crank up your shutter speed as well. Like mentioned above, some samples would be nice.
