Nikon D5100 or Canon 650D

I am a beginner photographer but eager to learn and become advanced, so I want a camera that will still be useful when I am more experienced. I like shooting a variety of photos, including portraits, macros, and landscapes and want a camera that can take excellent pictures of all. Which camera should I buy? Also, which generally sell cheaper lenses: Nikon or Canon?
