Nikon FX Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR G ED AF IF Lens vignetting

I've recently purchased a Nikon FX Zoom-Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S VR G ED AF IF Lens for my D800, but noticed on the 24mm setting there is very heavy vignetting apparent through the viewfinder.
Is this normal and/or can it be corrected?

Most wide angle lenses will vignette on FX, zooms more so. It can be overcome somewhat in camera, depending on model, and in post.

You are seeing it wide open too and that is when vignette will be the worst. Stopping down usually helps. Remember that even though the lens stops down when you take the shot, it is usually always wide open through the viewfinder.

Yes, I have noticed that, and I didn't notice much change when I applied the vignette controls in the D800 menu either.
I will play with it in Photoshop and see what I can do, cheers.
