took this the other night during one of the big storms... it was actually raining pretty hard that night but you cant really see that in the photo. would love to hear some feedback on what you think.

care to give settings and time of day/morning?
Rain makes the sidewalk on the far right very shiny, nice effect.

Is this a panorama merged from more pictures? The distortion is something that bothers and steel my attention from the amazing background!
Moreover I can't see the main topic of this photo (its hard to place such complicated scene into the right place) and it is my main complain for this shot.
Technically its not bad at all (good actually) - I appreciate the juicy stuff such as crosses at light spots, however in my opinion there is some greater potential in this scene.

It's nice, but as Ink says the distorsion really hurts this photo, particularly on the bridge and pavement. I do like the composition and it feels well ballenced too.

ya this was a pano. about 5 shots on the bottom and 5 shots on top, so 10 all together. and ink how do you mean great potential?

nancy it was about 10:00 at night i went out in the rain with my umbrella and set up at f/11 i think it was, ISO 100 and shot about 10 seconds on each shot

I was talking about the place (which in my opinion is great for such kind of cityscapes) not this particular photo because in my opinion it needs to be retaken - maybe the right tool is required (such as special panoramic tripod head)?
Another idea for solving the distortion problem is to try shoot vertically not horizontally (as I understood You did).

I replied that I like this and I still do. Now as I read the critique, I see more. Thank you.
'Distorsion' is on the right hand bridge? 'Main topic' of photo would be if the 'city' through the bridge would have been better?

I have not tried panoramic and stitching but it is very near the top of my list to try. I go to NYC in March and want to do, of course, Brooklyn Brige. This was very helpful.

no i did shoot it vertical. and i was thinking of investing in a tripod head specific for panos. specially since i find myself shooting more and more of them

I think your close.

Like others have said the distortion.....can you fix it in photoshop by manually adjusting the photo.

Id almost like this more during the end of blue hour, would give it a very different mood.

Your vanishing point is pulling me left, the city is on the right. I might have included the other bridge pylon to give my eye a stop while going left.

And kudos for going out and shooting in bad weather, your more dedicated than most!

Nice one! Personally I think I would have liked it more without the second bridge on the left but I still like it. Not too bothered by the distortion.

Ya I was thinking if you had stood in front of those bridge supports or maybe right beside if it is just a drop down to the water you could get the whole bridge on the right.

My favourite part of your picture is the right bridge and the city beneath it, and the bridge on my left blocks me from seeing the first bridge go off to the horizon. Apart from that it's great.
