Non typical HDR

I thought after a discussion on another thread that it might be fun to experiment with HDR in a non typical use.

Many think that HDR should only be used for Landscapes, waterfalls and the like.

I find it a great tool to bring to the surface hidden details on all kinds of shots like the above rake and old shingles

What have you done in a typical HDR fashion.

note: both of these where hand held, Tripod would make a major difference in sharpness

i use the Tonal contrast filter from Nik Color Efex, and it gives me the detail;s and textures I want, without the halos. I never consider it HDR though, just adding tones.
I have a tripod.somewhere, all my photos are handheld.

Well its not HDR, its a single image.

Hdr is a stack of 2 or more images of the same object at different exposures

You can achieve HDR effects as you have done very well above

Thats what I meant Brian, without all the fuss and muss, and I don't take many photos that need the intricate details that the light misses as many do, but it works for me in bringing out the textures..It's my Poor Gals attempt.lol.and it serves me just fine.

The A55 combines it internally for me if I wish. and full manual control of shot in Shutter, aperture, or program modes also

once again, hdr is for images that contain more exposure range than one exposure will hold. The number of exposures will depend on just how broad that range may be.

There is nothing wrong with using the technique for subject matter that is not landscape.

There is nothing wrong with using tonal contrast from nik either, it is a terrific piece of software and sometimes is used in conjection with a merged HDR images.
In fact many of us use 4 or 5 different pieces of software on a comleted image. One does what it takes to arrive at the final desired vision.

stuck with Sony since I have a bunch of good Konica/Minolta and Sony lenses that fit and work on all Sony Alphas

The images I posted are true HDR 3 image shots -2 0 +2
