Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Recently I have not been able to view photos posted in the forums in TPF. Does anybody else have this problem? What I can see right now is an ugly cross instead of the picture. What do i need to do in my computer to see these pics in the threads posted by members?

thanks, i have gone through this. It looks like I am not able to view pictures only if they are posted outside TPF (flicker etc). I am able to view photos which are directly posted in TPF. It looks like I will need to live with it???

Are you browsing old threads? If a photo's on-line location has been changed, or if the photo has been deleted from it's host, you'll likely see the red X. It's only natural that, after a few years, some photos won't be where they were when someone posted it onto the forum.

As for seeing photos hosted via Flickr or Photobucket etc. I can't see photos on Flickr (no red X, just can't see them). But that is because of the firewall that my company uses. It used to block Photobucket and allow Flickr, but now it's the opposite. I don't know why.

i am actually trying to see photos in new threads. When i try to see the older ones, yes...you are right and the host shows a message that the photo is no longer available.

Are you at work by chance. My office blocks jpegs but I can still see embedded photos.

Try clearing your cache and cookies, that might help.

Thanks for the suggestions, but it still doesnt work. I guess I ll have to live with it.

Bruce, I do most TPF things when I am home.....

*moving to feedback/suggestions subsection since this isn't dealing with beginner photography issues*

You might want to check the main sites of common hosts such as flickr, photobucket and the gallery we have on the site here. If any one of those sites isn't showing up chances are one of your antivirus/firewall programs is running some kind of site block/restriction on them and you'd be best to note which ones you are using and to check the current status of things like surfing shields and blocked sites

Restart your browser. shut it down and re-open. That usually works for me when I have this problem.

Whatever browser you are using, install a different one and try again.

IE9
Firefox
Chrome

If images are blocked in the other browsers then, as mentioned previously, you have a firewall somewhere in your path blocking jpegs.
