I was at the used food store the other day and found something new. Before I proceed you need to know that I am a soda nut and a teetottler. I stock up on frostop rootbeer, verner's gingerale, souix city ginger beer, coca cola ( the kosher and mexican versions only), malta india (only when I'm feeling blue, though. It tastes like cereal covered in molasses), and now a new one. You Brits probably know this one, but I found a few cans of VIMTO!!!!!!!! (no, it didn't make me fart... sorry purple ronnie) Heck, it was only 6 cans for a buckand it was good.... What other soda secrets do you Brits have? (and by the way... I got lucky. I did some research on wikipedia and found that my cans were not the standard U.K ones. Mine have some little Arabic writing on it and was bottled in Chicago... Thinking of Chicago, Corry, start frequenting the Middle Eastern grocery stores and try a can)

Well now I'm off. I'm on a mission to get some Bubble Up and a bottle of Frostie concord grape. Hey, someone told me about an imported German rootbeer!!!!

Vimto also comes as a concentrate - dilute with water (and here they stopped the campaign with Purple Ronnie some time ago). We call it 'squash'.
Then there is this

Did you say USED food store!?

more like sellout stuff and overstocks

they also have one heck of a selection of expired film

If only I could find some squash/cordial recipes.

here's a good one for gingerale with BALLS!!!!

a big 'ol ginger root, peeled
2 cups of water
a wee bottle of tobasco
a lemon

chop up the ginger, chuck it in a pot, cover with water, and add a few squirts of tobasco. Simmer for a half an hour and pick out the ginger pieces. Remove from the heat and squeeze the lemon in there. When the stuff is cool, chuck in the ginger pieces and the lemon and throw it in the fridge. Pour some in a glass, add some sugar, club soda and drink.
