not really a beginer but feel like one, help arrgghhh!!!!

Afternoon guys.
Well its been a while since i posted and whenever ive posted before ive never had a problem uploading my images straight from my computer.
Now heres the problem, i started a post today............went to attach pics and its saying the files are too large, :-( . could it be because the images were taken on my new camera and how do i go about resizing them etc so that i am able to upload to the site again, thankyou,

You don't have to resize them.
Just save a copy of the photo at a lower Quality setting. That will reduce the file size, not the photo size.

Ahhhh thanks KMH,
I take it i have to do that in photoshop or can i do it straight from windows live gallery? also what quality setting do you advise as right now i save at the highest quality.

You can also open a (free) Flickr account and post them there without the size restriction. Then go to the photo in Flickr, click on "Share," click on "Grab the HTML/BBCode," copy that code and paste it here.

I don't have Windows so I'm not familiar with your software. When I export an image, I can pick the size (and there are several standard sizes on a menu that I can just pick).

On a site such as this one, you generally don't want the image to be larger than 1024 pixels on whatever it's "longest" side is. My software will have choices such as "fit with 1024x1024" which really means it'll guarantee the longest side wont exceed 1024 but the shorter side will be scaled to however many pixels it needs to be based on your image ratio or cropping ratio.
