[SIZE=+3] I was very affected by a treatment that I had recently for very extensive pre-malignant skin lesions.
It was exquisitely painful for about 10 days (percocet around the clock)and, for two weeks, so repellant to look at that I didn't go out or answer the door.
It has been about 6 weeks now and my face is back to normal (or not any more repellent than usual) except for localized flushing after a hot shower and the treatment actually was very beneficial to my skin, sort of like a chemical peal.
That experience incited me to do this collage as a sort of therapy to get over the real trauma of the treatment.
The background is a microscopic view of squamous cell carcinoma with the contrast greatly enhanced and the converted to B&W. The color has obviously been heavily altered to show the areas of inflammation. The skull is not mine.

The photo is at the link below rather than posted here.

Comments, as always, welcome and thanks to tpf member Tim Vader for the skull shot.

wow man, that looks both nasty and painful as all hell. One thing to have issues another to have issues on our faces. Glad you survived the ordeal and benefited somewhat for the endurance.

Glad your getting past that. You look really great. Later. Ed

Wow, Lew. I am so sorry to hear you have been dealing with this, and happy to hear your recovery has gone smoothly. The image you made definitely packs a punch. Thanks for sharing it!

Well, I saw the shot of you and runnah at lunch earlier this week, so the healing process has been VERY good to you! I think it's good to get to see these types of real medical treatment images. Sooooooo many people hide this stuff away. While it was ugly to look at, it was also educational, and I think comforting, to know that modern dermatology can work such miraculous treatments. Skin cancers of various types are VERY common, so many of us will probably have similar procedures performed at some point in our lives. Thanks for letting us see a glimpse into your treatment. I appreciate it!

My wife's late husband died of melanoma that originated on his head, which incited both my step son and two bio-sons to wear hats constantly.
I've been going hatless my entire life and have just started smartening up.
My wife says if I don't wear a hat she will staple one on.

It certainly was a time when my face hurt me as much as it usually hurts other people.
