Chinese in mainland China is smashing anything Japanese. Cars, restaurants, shops, embassy you name it. So shop owners are hanging Chinese flags and red banners on their store fronts to avoid being damaged.

Then I saw this photo:

I'm not getting it. Is he covering his Nikon lens because its made in Japan?

He covers his camera with Chinese flag to say that he's a patriotic Chinese, so his fellow comrades won't smash his Nikon to pieces and possibly lynch him.
