That's "groin" in US-English (I think) - the structures built at right angles to the shoreline - and nothing to do with aged anatomy :) I took this simple shot for the line of decaying posts and the shadows they were throwing on the beach.

Not too contrasty for my liking, and containing the wonderful element of repetition and a diagonal line ... I like this as much as I like all your photos!
