This is one tree in an old abandoned cherry orchard. The ol' girl still had a few blossoms!

Like the compo, don't like the light, to many "dead" shadows in the subject. I know, it might be complicated.

I see what you mean about the shadows...

You know, it's a main subject and this shadows are in zone 1 or 0. It is a problem. With film I would know, what to do, with digital seems like small, off camera, diffused light fill in could help. This tree is interesting, maybe even find a moment, when the flowers are bit bigger and more visible will be better. If that possible for you, , subject might be miles away. But if it is close by I would definitely "drill" this scene some more.

I like the camera angle, looking slightly up adds some depth without creating drama. In fact, it helps to emphasize the unusual shape of the tree. I find the vignette a little distracting, and judging by the brightness if the clouds, the image could be lighter overall.
